Okay now that the jury is out,on the stock library what kind of Sound Expansions would you like to see from Yamaha and Steinberg for Halion Sonic. In the spirit of keeping things nice and neat, lets try and make this as easy for them to understand as possible.. Explain the Soundpack you'd like to have:make it bold,if possible, thanks
feel free to post your thoughts..
I'm going to echo what Viva posted earlier in another thread here, and I'd also like to see: After Playing with Halion Sonic
Motif XS Expansion.. -(Now that the Motif XF has been released, Yamaha please, make us an expansion of the XS sounds)
More VA Synthesis - include a few theramin's, pretty please.. Dave Polich if your reading this..
ETHNIC Expansion..
Guitars Expansion
Brass Expansion (The Brass Instruments that come stock in Halion Sonic aren't as gritty as I'd like - they r actually 2 pretty sounding - we need some reminders of Hypersonic' 2 brass sections please - think gritty, rough, hip hop style, modern) with enough layering it's all possible, but I'd like some harder sounding brass's for sure..eg: hs2's patches - Ultimate Brass Section,Miami Octave,Biggest Brass Low Octave... _________________ Hardware:Intel Q6600|3.0ghz|P45 Asus P5Q|8Gbs Corsair |BFG 8800 GT 512mb

| Definitely an ethnic/world pack - a modern equivalent of Emu Planet Earth. A full orchestral pack although I suspect they will do that as a new separate Halion Symphonic Orchestra based on Halion Sonic/Halion 4. |

My wish list:
1. Good Brass section, not weak joke synth sounding like. (Kontakt has basic Chris Hein Horns)
2. Strings section. (Kontakt has VI strings)
3. Ethnic: Tex Mex, South American instruments. Not only the classic celtic, indian, japanese, etc...(Tex Mex Accordions, bajo sexto, quena, zampoña, charango, jarana, tambora, cuban guitars, guitarron, mariachi and banda sections, etc.)
4. A GM bank (HalionOne and Hypersonic have it).
Mmmh... Maybe this list suits better for HALion 4. _________________ PPC G5 2.5 DUAL, OS 10.4.11, CUBASE 4.5.2, MOTU 2408 MKII, YAMAHA 01V, lots of vst instruments, Roland XP10 controller, Alesis QS8,...
MacBookPro 2.33 Intel core 2 duo, OS 10.5.8, Cubase Studio 4.5.2, MOTU Ultralite, Oxigen 8 controller, lots of vst instruments.... |

My wishlist:
Drumkits (better ones)
Marcato, staccato and spiccato strings
FX sounds suitable for pop-music (bangs, sweeps etc.)
Classic keyboards and string machines collection
GM-bank |

I like the 'one finger' guitar patches and it would be great to have them expanded so that minors, sevenths and major sevenths are also available. I don't know how feasible that is but I'd love it!

I've only had HS for about 2 hours, so this is just off the top of my head...
Ethnic/World expansion packs
Soundtrack / Filmscore strings and woodwinds
Just with my brief hands on so far, HALion Sonic sounds good and seems very well put together - it's ideally suited for expansion packs.
I won't mind at all spending the dough for tons of good ones!
Bring 'em on!

I would like to see :
Yamaha Classics Sounds expansion: with sounds of the CS series, TX series, SY-1, SS-30, SY-99, .....
tonal sliced sequences: percussive but with many tonal components like a Korg Wavestation, must be a killer with the ability to edit each slice
other drumkits: not this mainstream kits

Definitely like to see a Guitar pack. More with built in expressions (harmonics, hammers etc). Some good overdriven or distorted guitars with controllable feedback would be nice. I've looked for many years to find a REALLY good electric guitar patch. The last almost perfect one I had was the WaveGuide Overdriven Guitar for the Creative Labs SoundBlaster AWE64. I've sometimes become so desperate I actually learned to play some of the parts on a real guitar. ONCE I even worked with a proper guitar player (won't be trying THAT again in a hurry ).
And possibly some sounds from older Yamaha synths - the AN1X for example. _________________ AMD Phenom II X4 945. 4 Gb RAM. Windows 7 (32 bit) Emu 0404.
Synths: Roland Fantom XR; Korg Radias; Yamaha AN1x
External: Behringer UB802, Eurorack Pro; Deq1024; BCF2000. Focusrite Trakmaster; Liquid Mix. NI Kore.
Software: Cubase 5, Reason 4, Melodyne Studio 3 & Editor, NI Komplete 6 & Kore 2. HALion Symphonic & HALion Sonic. EVERYTHING by VirSyn (synths and effects). Korg Legacy (both versions). Alchemy. I think that's it...... |

and then steinberg spoke??
well this is a long enough request thread, whats up, steinberg? what r your plans for the updates, when n where? since certain sounds don't have the appropriate samples, layers, we have to wait on more content I take it? Or is your main focus now halion 4? what gives will halion sonic be supported here,or what? Are you guys gonna have 3rd party libraries going on here, like the rest of the world or??? Libraries like Alchemy,Sylenth,Largo,etc.. are supported by other sound designers, whats the scoop is this just all in house,or are we gonna see other developers for halion sonic??
TALK to your customers please |

There's more to come.
Here's where they speakin' bout it:
http://www.steinberg.net/en/newsandevents/halion4blog/blog_details/archive/2010/08/26/article/sights-sounds-cw34-2010-1292.html
There's a link to two of his sounds on the HAL4 blog.

Nothing huge, but shows things are in the works.
If you have a Twitter account, follow SteinbergMedia and you get the news before everything else...even the company web site.
Twitter is generally used as the first broadcast channel for company announcements - Spectrasonics, Avid, Native Instruments, Celemony, Waves, Yamaha, etc etc.
Create a list of companies you like, and it works a daily news ticker of the latest things their doing.
(Forget the social networking aspect...that's worse than rubbish IMO.)

This is actually quite upsetting me.. One guy's blog about Presets for Halion Sonic,or oh now we can sell you Halion 4? Idk man, I was expecting to hear, Yamaha will still support this with their team of dev's etc.. Or better then even that, more content, raw sample data,rom,something..but I'm sure they are moving on to program yet another synth by now.. fwiw if this is the guy who made the call on the sound library,I don't actually want to follow his blog..I design sounds too,and there was a ton of content left out, even Halion One had certain samples that Halion Sonic doesn't have.. I'm more after what's up with more new samples, NOT PRESETS!! I don't care about the presets, I'm looking for more samples... Yeah and I totally DON'T TWITTER.. thanks for the response though.. decent of ya,much better then them.. |

| +1 for more brass. Unlike most I really don't want realistic natural sounding concert brass. The amount of samples it would take to accomplish this is not realistic for this type of rompler type plug-in. I really want a gritty hip hop type of brass similar to what the first post was asking for. |
