|

Hello all,
I recently purchased my CC121 (I'm using it with Nuendo in case that's of any significance in my question), and I noticed that when scrubbing and jogging with the AI knob that I'm not hearing the audio play back as I would if I were using the scrub/jog wheel in the program's transport controls. Surely that can't be correct, or else I don't see the point of ever using the AI knob for that purpose.
Does anyone have any insight to what I might be doing wrong? Is there a setting somewhere that I haven't checked?
Thanks very much for your time,
Mark |

Hi Mark,
just in case you haven´t found out yet... The default behaviour in Cubase (5) is that it stops playing when you use rewind/ff, this is also true for the cc121´s jog-feature. However, you can change this behaviour in the transport-preferences...
Ciao,

I have exactly the same± When using the jogwhel in the transport bar I hear audio, but when using the AI knob as a jog wheel there is no audio. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?
Thanx for the help

The main reason to buy CC121 was to have an easier way for scrubbing through audio then using the virtual jog wheel from the transport control panel.
But exactly this functions does not seem to work as expected - still no audio!
An earlier reply in this thread reported tonot select the 'Stop playback while winding' on the Preferences Transport tab. It's not select - but still no audio using the jog wheel of the CC121.
Does in the meantime some else got it working? CC121 is a very expensive hardware, I would expect that such key functions would work right out of the box.
Thanks, Thomas |

Hello
As there seems not to be a solution for getting audio scrubbing with CC121 I was looking for other alternatives and found the ShuttlePro. Even if the audio scrubbing does also not work on Cubase 5.1.1 out of the box with the provided Cubase templates it is very easy to get it configured by first editing the Key commands in Cubase and then apply the same to the ShuttlePro config tool it works well. As the Jog wheel is larger and is for audio scrubbing much smoother to handle then the very small CC121 knob it is for me anyway the better choice and 4 times cheaper than the by far overpriced CC121.
To configure ShuttlePro I've done following.
1) Configure keys on ShuttlePro v2
1.1) Select Application Setting Cubase SX (not Cubase!) from the ShuttlePro Control Panel ("contour Shuttle Devie Configuration").
1.2) On Options->Change target application point the your Cubase executable and push apply button
1.3) Assign the following keys to the Jog Wheel (this configuration will not conflict with the other definitions from the Cubase SX template:
Shuttle in Right 1: Alt + 1
Shuttle in Right 2: Alt + 2
Shuttle in Right 3: Alt + 3
Shuttle in Right 4: Alt + 4
Shuttle in Right 5: Alt + 5
Shuttle in Right 6: Alt + 6
Shuttle in Right 7: Alt + 7
Shuttle in Left 1: Shift + Alt + 1
Shuttle in Left 2: Shift + Alt + 2
Shuttle in Left 3: Shift + Alt + 3
Shuttle in Left 4: Shift + Alt + 4
Shuttle in Left 5: Shift + Alt + 5
Shuttle in Left 6: Shift + Alt + 6
Shuttle in Left 7: Shift + Alt + 7
push button apply to save.
2) Configure Cubase 5 Key commands accordingly
Use the directly now the ShuttlePro device to configure Cubase by turing the Jog wheel to the corresponding position while your mouse pointer focusses to the 'Typ in Key' entry field in the Key Commands configuration popup in Cubase. Don't forget to select 'Assign' - otherwise the entered key will not be saved.
This way you will see after configuration the following configuration in your Cubase Key commands configuration:
Shuttle Play 1/2x Alt+3
Shuttle Play 1/4x Alt+2
Shuttle Play 1/8x Alt+1
Shuttle Play 1x Alt+4
Shuttle Play 2x Alt+5
Shuttle Play 4x Alt+6
Shuttle Play 8x Alt+7
Shuttle Play Reverse 1/2x Alt+Shift+3
Shuttle Play Reverse 1/4x Alt+Shift+2
Shuttle Play Reverse 1/8x Alt+Shift+1
Shuttle Play Reverse 1x Alt+Shift+4
Shuttle Play Reverse 2x Alt+Shift+5
Shuttle Play Reverse 4x Alt+Shift+6
Shuttle Play Reverse 8x Alt+Shift+7
Now you have based on the ShuttleProv v2 template "Cubase SX" an adapted configuration in Cubase 5 which let you work perfectly as it would be expected from a jog wheel audio scrubbing. Using the right hand for the PC's mouse while you are handling the SHuttleProv2 Jog Wheel in the left hand it is possible to work very efficient in Cubase and well balanced without getting tired.
Cheers, Thomas |

| I have the same problem: CC121 does not work correctly when scrubbing and jogging. I hope and I trust that Steinberg is now working to solve it. |

Hallo Thomas,
Is it possible to control the mouse wheel funktion with the jog wheel/shuttle of the Shuttle Pro V2 ?
If it´s possible, the Shuttle Pro V2 would also have the same functionality as the AI knob of the CC121 ?
Or is this wrong ?
best regards |
