Hi guys,

I am going to move my Cubase 5.5 set-up from XP to W7. Now I am somewhat concerned about Hypersonic 2 and Virtual Guitarist 2. What will be the best approach / set-up that both plug-ins will work under the new system. Do I have to do anything special (eg just install the 32 bit version of cubase5)? Will it work just fine or do I have to install additional software such as Jbridge?

Please help!

Thanx in advance, Frank.

My new system: CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-860, W7 Home Premium 32-bit / 64-bit, 2,8 Ghz, DDR3 1333 MHz, RAM: 6 GB
Cubase5.5, Hypersonic2, VirtualGuitarist2, GrooveAgent3, Halion3

I'm working up the courage to make the same leap so it'll be interesting to follow this thread. As I understand it, the main advantage of going 64 bit is that you can address more RAM. If you want to keep using your old 32 bit plugins in a 64 bit OS and a 64 bit host, I guess you'll have to bridge them with something like JBridge.

I'm assuming the 32 bit plugins will still have the 4 GB RAM limitation but that will probably not be much of a problem. In my case, the really RAM hungry plugins are Kontakt and the Spectrasonics instruments and I believe they all have 64 bit versions by now.

/Yoss

Hey,

If you install the 32bit version of Cubase 5, you will be able to run your actual plugins with no problem, in the windows 7 64 bit environment.

If you use the 64bit version of cubase, you will need jbridge or vst bridge or Vienna ensemble Pro to run your actual plugins.

I recommend working with the 32 bit version of Cubase in W7 64bits, you will deal with less compatibility problems (if at all).
