Asked Questions Q: I am using Steinberg products not requiring a Steinberg Key. What should I do now? A: If you use a product which does not require a Steinberg Key, such as Cubase SE 1.0.7, Cubase VST, WaveLab or older plugins, then don’t worry! You do not have to fear trouble because you´re not able to store a number. At the moment these new fields are primarily used for the product mentioned above. Q: I do not own a Steinberg product yet but I would like to gather some first hand pre-purchase information. What do I do? A: You do not have to fill in the Steinberg Key number field and you can ask any question that is needed for your inquiry of course. Q: Why do you exclude Cubase VST users from entering a key number as well? A: This is for several reasons. Cubase VST was discontinued three years ago. It is also not easy to get the number of the LPT port key. This would mean to open the key physically or to install the Syncrosoft LCC for this purpose only. We think this would be more hassle than would be acceptable for Cubase VST users. Q: I am not using Steinberg products at all but I like the forum and I am a often posting in the Music Lounge. What do I do now? A: This is also not a problem as long as you are not a user of the products mentioned above. Feel free the use the Music Lounge as usual. Q: I have entered a number. Can you please validate it for me? A: Sorry, no. We will validate numbers when it appears to be useful. If there has been a non-valid number entered by you will be asked to correct it. We will also do a mass validation from time to time. Q: I have more than two Steinberg Keys. How do I store the additional Steinberg Key numbers? A: You don´t need to do this. The main purpose is to have the number stored of your primarily used products. This Steinberg Key may also contain additional licenses or not. If, for example, you have more than one or two Cubase versions running, it is enough to enter at least one number of the newest/biggest version you use. It is also not required to enter numbers of empty Steinberg Keys! Q: I have trouble reading the USB key number! I can´t see a difference between a "0" (zero) and an "O" (letter "O"). What now? A: If in doubt assume they are 0s (zeros). Q: Can I also enter the number shown in the Syncrosoft LCC? A: No, please take the number directly from the USB key. The number in the LCC is only a part of the whole number on the key. |
